Ski Cost Calculator (Renting Vs Buying Payback Time)
Should you rent or buy skis? It's hard to know the right answer and their are major pros and cons for both. One primary concern is how much is it actually going to cost me? We'd all love to own our own equipment, but what is the payback time.
I created this simple calculator that allows you to input the cost of renting gear and the cost of buying gear to calculate the payback time.

First, you input the cost of your ski gear rental. This includes the cost per day of renting the skis, boots, helmet, and poles or any other gear. The calculator will also ask for the number of days you plan to ski.
Next, you input the costs of buying gear. This includes the cost of purchasing the same ski equipment. The calculator doesn't factor in costs for maintaining equipment, such as getting your skis waxed or serviced (feel free to add this to the to the gear total).
Once you've input all the necessary information, the calculator will determine the payback period. This is the number of days you would need to ski to make buying gear cost-effective compared to renting. The shorter the payback period, the more cost-effective it is to buy your gear.
